Senior Nutrition

A participant enjoying Help of Ojai's senior nutrition programThe Senior Nutrition Progam has moved.

We are now serving meals at our West Campus location, 370 Baldwin Road.

Please join us Monday-Friday at noon for wonderful food and fellowship!

We hope to see you there!

CONGREGATE MEALS

A strong social circle is built around the meals served at Little House. Each day the "Lunch Bunch" arrives for a meal with the aid of HELP's transportation program and join with friends.

Our Senior Nutrition Program has been honored with with an Aging Achievement Award by the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging.

This year's renovation of the kitchen was also a welcome enhancement for staff, volunteers and daily dinners. Meals, meetings, and events in the dining room continue to fill the lives of many senior residents!

MEALS ON WHEELS

In a bustling kitchen, volunteers spend the morning cooking, preparing, and packaging hot meals and sack lunches to be delivered to home bound seniors.

I don’t know what I would do without the senior nutrition program. I can’t always afford to go to the grocery store, but I know that I will always have a place to go and get the food I need. I can’t imagine what my day would be or how I would make it if I couldn’t come and get a meal every day.

Meals on Wheels has delivered healthy, tasty meals to housebound men and women for over 30 years. For those who can't shop, drive, cook, or clean because of age, infirmity, or recuperation from recent hospitalization, HELP of Ojai's Meals on Wheels provides nourishment and so importantly, an ability for its recpients to remain in their own homes. A HELP of Ojai staff member visits every person who requests meals from the program, and if necessary, a qualified professional will make an evaluation and additional services will be recommended. Last year, over 50 seniors received daily safety checks and friendly hellos as 12,000 meals were delivered.

Meals on Wheels are delivered five days a week, and frozen meals are available for weekends. Although the cost is assumed by the recipient, those unable to contribute may be subsidized through donations to HELP of Ojai that have been designated for the Meals on Wheels program. Please call 805-649-8018 or e-mail Leslie Kelso, lesliek@helpofojai.org for more information.
